Microsoft already launched Windows 7 in the Philipines. There are five versions available namely Windows 7 Starter, Windows 7 Home Basic, Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Ultimate. Here are the initial promotional prices with can save you up to PhP3,000.00 off the regular retail price, you’ll also get a free webcam when you get a licensed copy of Windows 7.

Windows 7 Home Premium at Php7,000
Windows 7 Professional at Php14,500
Windows 7 Ultimate at Php15,500

Microsoft give discounts for students as well as schools but family packs are available in the US but currently not available in the Philippines and Microsoft haven’t announced a definite date yet. Also to get the Family Pack you need at least 3 PC at home.

When buying the Windows 7 pack, you’ll get 32-bit DVD and a 64-bit DVD installer.

To run Windows 7, you need a PC with at least a 1.0 ghz 32-bit or 64-bit cpu, 1 gb of RAM and 16 gb of disk space, a video card with at least 128mb for Direct X 9 graphics and in order to enjoy the Aero theme.

You can upgrade Windows Vista to Windows 7 but unfortunately, you cannot do it over Windows XP, you have to fresh install Windows 7. If you bought your computer after October 22, you can upgrade to Windows 7 for free. The RC will expire by June 1, 2010, so to avoid inconvenience you need to upgrade your OS before your PC will shut down every two hours starting on March 1, 2010.
